2019 Singapore Business Mission, May 7 - 9

On May 7-9, the US-ASEAN Business Council led a business delegation to Singapore where US firms engaged with government ministers to deepen partnerships with Singapore and to promote free and open trade in southeast Asia. Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore Foreign Minister and Minister-in-charge of the Smart Nation initiative, underscored Singapore’s role as a launchpad for innovation. American business supports Singapore’s tech and finance hub goals and are eager to participate in Singapore’s next phase of development.”

Dinner Dialogue and Cyber Threat Briefing with ASEAN Cyber Ministers and Senior Officials, September 19, 2018

On September 19, the Council, BSA | The Software Alliance, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce co-hosted a dinner dialogue and a cyber security briefing, bringing together leaders of the American business community and ASEAN Ministers and senior officials responsible for cybersecurity, participating in the Singapore International Cyber Week 2018.

On August 21, the US-ASEAN Business Council met with Singapore’s newly appointed Minister for Trade and Industry, H.E. Chan Chun Sing, as part of its 2018 Singapore Business Mission. The delegation of 22 companies, which is the largest Singapore Business Mission to date, was led by the Chair of the Council’s Singapore Committee, Karl Cox, Vice President of Global Public Affairs at Oracle; Alexander C. Feldman, President and CEO of the US-ASEAN Business Council; and Ambassador Michael W. Michalak, Council Senior Vice President and Regional Manager Director.

2018 Mission to the ASEAN Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (AFMGM)

The US-ASEAN Business Council brought a delegation of 14 financial and technology companies to the AFMGM in Singapore on April 5-6 to discuss how the U.S. private sector can support ASEAN financial development. As part of the mission, now in its 19th year, the delegation presented a policy paper to a plenary meeting of the Ministers and Central Bank Governors that was chaired by Singapore’s Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat. The delegation was led by Council President & CEO Alexander Feldman, Council Senior VP & Regional Managing Director Amb. Michael Michalak, and the co-chairs of the Council’s Financial Services Committee, Amol Gupte, ASEAN Head and Citi Country Officer for Singapore; and Paul McNamee, Senior Vice President and Regional President for the Asia Pacific at Chubb.

Joint ASEAN Centre for Energy – US-ASEAN Business Council Roundtable at Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2017

On October 26, the Council and the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) organized a roundtable panel discussion entitled "20% in 2020 - Unlocking ASEAN's Energy Efficiency Potential" at Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2017. Participants included energy efficiency officials from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, as well as representatives from General Electric and UL, both of which sponsored the event.
