McDonald's Corporation's Efforts
The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Philippines takes on "Bahay Bulilit" as a cornerstone program. It's a long-term commitment of RMHC, dedicated 'to lift kids to a better tomorrow, to build day care centers in deserving communities all over the Philippines.
The program is being undertaken in partnership with other sectors, namely: The national government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development providing the public land, setting the guidelines for day care center operations and overseeing proper service delivery; the local government supplying the operating expenses including providing the day care center workers; and, the community (barangay) attending to the upkeep and maintenance of the structure and facilities plus helping the daycare center workers take care of the children.
"BAHAY Bulilit" daycare centers aim to help working parents who do not have enough money to pay for babysitters or send their children to pre-school. RMHC "BAHAY Bulilit" daycare centers will provide assured quality care, proper value formation and play & study activities for children under six years old to prepare them for formal schooling or Grade 1.
The first RMHC "BAHAY Bulilit" (House for the Little Ones) Day Care Center is along C-5, Barangay East Rembo, Makati City, and was inaugurated last November 20, 2002. Another, 2nd RMHC BAHAY Bulilit day care center, will soon open in Martinez St. (9 de Pebrero), beside Hardin ng Pagasa, Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City. More Bahay Bulilit's are firmly set and is underway for this year.
